Project Arizona
Healthcare costs are spiraling without an end in sight. 45+ million Americans are uninsured. The AMA predicts a 90,000 physician shortage by the end of the decade. The need for healthcare reform is critical and urgent. Better provider communication is certainly part of the answer.
zPaper is incredibly well positioned to supply better provider-to-patient, provider-to-provider, and provider-to-business communication. The zPaper platform includes content, cloud, and mobile services that enable us to lead the way to dramatically improved physician communication. The effects of better communication will have huge direct and indirect impacts in patient care outcomes, reduced overhead, and better protection of our privacy.
Code named Arizona, zPaper will offer every active primary care provider in the United States a free mobile solution that can replace the use of their current fax solution. The app, available first for Apple devices, will allow physicians to send and receive documents through Direct Secure Messaging (DSM). Document management tools will enable markup, completion of interactive forms, and signatures from the screen. Even audio notes can be embedded in documents. The most valuable part of this solution is that it will work seamlessly with the cloud based EHR system the doctor already uses. There is no need to change systems; Arizona simply makes the existing system better.
With software it is always important to be backwards compatible. While DSM technology is the future of digital document communications, zPaper will include free faxing with Arizona solutions for the first year.
Parts of this solution are being piloted at CareHarbor, a great event in which we participate every year.
Physicians bring the device, zPaper brings the technology. Look for Arizona in 2014!
